[31/12/08] < But Not For Much Longer

Well, that’s another one down. This is the bit where I guess I’m meant to wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year. But I’m not going to. Perhaps it’s the lingering humbug scent from Christmas, the fact that it’s so cliche, or my growing paranoid suspicion that the Wishmaster films were documentaries. You start wishing everyone a happy new year and the next thing you know, it’s Armageddon and you never got that gold-plated Transformer that actually turns into a working tape cassette player.

You can’t be too careful where genies are concerned.

(As for the single, solitary extra second we get this year, I think I’ll put it in the bank. I’m saving for a temporal holiday in a New York Minute some time in 2054...)

Instead, I’ll simply say ‘good fortune’. I’m sure you won’t need it. If you do, remember: it’s not fair to start a suicide hotline with the theme from M*A*S*H as the on-hold music, you can’t rely on grateful Nigerians to solve all your problems, and if a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing before the global market crash reduces all civilisation into a hellish wasteland full of mutated monsters and members of the NMA forum complaining that Tim Cain would have done a much better job of the apocalypse.

And if all else fails…

In the parlance of the Internet: Alton Towers FAIL

Seriously though, have a great 2009. It’s the last year Dr. Light has to create Mega Man and save us all from the Robot Masters, so that’s definitely something to look forward to. I’ve also got high hopes for the long awaited Limbo of the Lost II, to say nothing of       ,           or                      . That’s got to be good news!

<< Doctor WHO?!

And the same to you Sir, may we all be able to mess up 2009 in a new and original way to 2008…

For some reason, I thought you were talking about those Macauly Culkin films, the animated ones where you get sucked into books. I thought those were called Wishmaster. Now I don’t know what they were called.

It must be the last year for a lot of things nonspecific, actually. We’ve still got a while before the matrix, though, right?

Pagemaster, I think. Not good, but can’t be worse than The Ink Thief.

Hey, where was that photo taken?

Ah, yes, happy 2009. Sorry, I was distracted by the sign.

Alton Towers, a not-particularly-good theme park.

Were you very subtly volunteering to become Mega Man there, or was that my imagination?

Maybe, before playing the rubbish one on Xbox that confused the second game for I Wanna Be The Guy. Had the original been like that, I’d have been unable to defeat Airman either.

You jinxed it! Now we have Matt Smith as the 11th Doctor! Who the hell is he and why should be watch him?!

Utter disaster. Send in the troops.

Never heard of him, which isn’t a problem for me at all. It’s much easier to take a non-known face as an iconic character like the Doctor, as opposed to it being (INSERT NAME HERE) flying the TARDIS.

Will miss Tennant though.

Him being an unknown isn’t a problem. Him being an emo teen might be…
